Evaluative management consulting
Promar developed its own Results-Oriented Management (R-OM) process to help clients engineer their evaluative market development management systems. It is widely used in the export market development community both to create strategies and evaluate programs.
The process is built around an analytical framework. This involves several key components:
- Understanding and analyzing markets
- Identifying priority constraints and opportunities that our clients can influence
- Specifying clear and measurable communication objectives, and
- Identifying the most appropriate market development activities to overcome constraints and/or to capture opportunities.
Trade and farm policy research and economic analysis
The development of sound policies or strategies demands a solid understanding of basic economic principles.
Promar underpins its market assessments with sound economic analysis and reasoning. Our senior professionals are agricultural economists, familiar with the wide range of policy instruments used to modify economic forces to meet a range of different objectives. Our analysis focuses on clarifying the impact of policies and market conditions on short and long-term market incentives.
Market research worldwide
Markets are diverse and constantly changing. Carefully designed market research is essential to understanding market trends, and the character and nature of value chain players' behavior.
Promar's skills lie in developing understanding of the key drivers and character of markets. The length and breadth of our past experience facilitates the application of innovative and effective research methods to fully identify and analyze the factors driving demand.
Promar undertakes trade research using its own specialized executive interviewers. For both quantitative and qualitative consumer surveys, we partner with specialist market research associates.
Strategy development and formulation
Depending on the client's specific requirements, we play various roles to help them review or develop strategies.
Some assignments give us the role of independently exploring issues and options for developing a client's market position. We research the status quo in the market, identify the bases of competition, review our client's position and other key players, identify forces for change, and define future strategic imperatives. We then report back to our client with strategic recommendations.
Alternatively, in other assignments we work closely with the client to advance the development of a strategy. We provide information to form a platform of discussion and facilitate the strategy development process among interested parties.
Domestic and export market analysis
Markets differ. Capturing the direction and strength of potential consumer 'pull' along the value chain is critical. Yet, it is just as essential to understand the factors that interact to influence all those operating throughout the value chain.
While the lead players in most mature markets are consumers and those that articulate consumer needs (retail and food service), it is critical to understand the decision-making of other value chain players. At the heart of our approach to market analysis is a detailed analysis of the decision-making drivers of key value chain players.
