Lynn Daft |
|
Lynn is an agricultural economist and marketing systems specialist with a particular interest in the interaction of policy, economics, and market factors. He has considerable experience in managing the analysis of large sets of data and has supervised many sample surveys. He is particularly interested in the impact of various welfare programs on food consumption and markets. He has more than 25 years of experience in conducting economic research in farm policy, economic development, dairy markets and domestic food programs.
Lynn also has wide farm and food policy experience, having served at a senior position in the Carter White House, and he has also worked in the Office of Management and Budget, the Congressional Budget Office, and the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture. He has been appointed to several national commissions studying food marketing and rural poverty.
Lynn has a BS in agricultural economics from Ohio State University, a MA from the University of Massachusetts, and a PhD from Michigan State University. |

Maria Eugenia (Maru) Martinez |
|
Maru heads Promar's office in Mexico City and has worked on dozens of research projects in Mexico and throughout Latin America. She has completed multiple studies on various food and agricultural products and has undertaken many studies on distribution and market entry issues, particularly for high value food products.
Maru is a graduate of the Monterrey Institute of Technology, where she completed her degree in Business Administration/Finance. She earned her MBA in Marketing from Anahuac University. Maru speaks fluent English in addition to her native Spanish. |

Asanka
Pathiraja |
|
Asanka joined the Promar
team in the beginning of 2008. During
his time with us, he has worked on
projects relating to tariff regulations
and economic situations for key US grain
export markets, and commodities analysis
- cocoa, sugar, and nuts. He has also
worked on the latest update of the
grains and oilseeds market access index
and database that we have developed and
regularly updated for several
agricultural commodities industry
groups. The database covers 31 countries
around the world.
Asanka holds a master's degree from the
London School of Economics and Political
Science, where he studied international
trade focusing on agricultural economic
policy in the EU and WTO. While at the
LSE, he completed his master's
dissertation on the US - Chinese Trade
Relationship. He has a bachelor's degree
in political science from Emory
University.

Gene
Kim |
|
Gene
has worked on a variety of projects since
he joined the Promar team in the fall of
2007. These include identifying food
export opportunities in the US for a
foreign client, an evaluation of South
American market access and trade policy
programs for seeds, and assessment of the
poultry markets of several African
countries, and an update of the grains and
oilseeds market access index and database
that we have developed and regularly
updated for a several agricultural
commodities industry groups. The database
covers 31 countries around the world.
Gene joined us after an internship with
the International Food and Agriculture
Trade Policy Council (IPC) where he
tracked the 2007 Farm Bill developments in
Congress, at the USDA, and provided daily
roundups and drafted briefing summaries on
market access and food safety, biofuels,
emissions trading, and climate change, and
Farm Bill programs. He has also interned
at the Brazil information center as an
assistant to the International Trade
Specialist.
Gene has a master's in applied
economics from the John Hopkins University
and dual BA in economics and political
science, with a minor in Spanish language
from the University of Georgia.

Tom Earley |
|
Tom, an economist and trade policy specialist, is responsible for ongoing analysis of food markets and of national and international food and agricultural policies and programs. His work has focused on understanding the strategic implications of macro-economic forces and farm and trade policies.
As an expert on commodity and food processing industries, he has worked closely with a broad spectrum of organizations to undertake global strategic studies of agri-food issues. These include studies on the crop protection sector, biotechnology, international sweetener industries and markets, bio-fuel and meat markets. Previously, Tom was vice-president of Abel, Daft & Earley and senior staff economist for the President's Council of Economic Advisers. He is a graduate of Yale and the London School of Economics. |

Salli Diakova |
|
Salli is a strategic marketing specialist with extensive experience analyzing the operation of many agricultural and food product markets. She jointly developed Promar's Results-Oriented Management process and has applied it to the work of many clients.
Before joining Promar in 1995, Salli led a Central European consulting company examining transition issues. She holds a doctorate in engineering from Bulgaria, and an MBA from the George Washington University with a focus on strategic marketing and international business development. |

Nick Young |
|
Nick has more than 30 years of experience of directing and undertaking economic and marketing research and consulting projects. These projects have covered a wide range of issues, commodities and countries, and have been undertaken on behalf of organizations from the private and public sector throughout Western Europe and the United States.
A marketing strategy specialist, Nick developed Promar's Results-Oriented Management, an evaluative management process to help clients develop market development strategies and plans. He received degrees from Reading and Newcastle Universities in the UK.
Nick is a regular contributor to agri-food conferences and seminars and closely follows value chain developments and policy and marketing interactions. |
